Seems like it started as soon as I left my home. The light sprinkle of cold winter rain stirred up a passionate desire to complain. I had no hat, no raincoat no umbrella.

But I hate complaining. And God hates it too!

Recently I found an effective way to counter the desire to complain. I start thanking God saying:

Thank you, Father, that you never change. You’re good to me no matter the outward circumstances. Thank you that your steadfast love never fails to cover me in comfort.

Instead of looking at how bad the conditions are, I focus on the goodness of God. It’s stable therefore I can hold on to it and find rest when I’m being shaken outwardly.

Then all of a sudden I heard God in my heart, take a shelter! I immediately went under a balcony. After 3 seconds it seemed like the rain couldn’t hold it anymore and flared all the faucets in full force.

I stood in awe for a moment looking at how everyone was taken by surprise and ran for a cover. My desire to complain was gone. Instead, the gratitude started flowing in a natural manner.

Is there ever a reason to complain?
